Today we’d like to introduce you to Victoria and Christina Nguyen.

Victoria and Christina, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.

Victoria Nguyen (CEO & Founder) : We are sisters and wanted to create a brand and business that would combine our love for helping others and our constant desire to do something creative. I have a background working with kids with developmental disabilities with a degree in Speech Language Pathology and Special Education – Autism and have always enjoyed crafting gifts. We founded John & Jackie with the intention of making the gifting process more meaningful and modern while creating gift boxes that would also give back to underprivileged children around the world.

Christina Nguyen (Branding Director & Partner in Crime) : My sister is a natural gifter and has exceptional attention to detail. She has always been the go-to person for curating and creating the perfect gift for our friends and family. I thrive on all things design and art so was excited to partner with her on creating a brand that merged our aesthetic taste, love of travel, and encouraged a culture of giving back. It was also important to us that the brand was equally relatable and accessible to everyone – both men and women.

We are proud Vietnamese-American women that had an idea to start a modern gifting studio based in Dallas and grew it to a business offering custom gift boxes shipped nationally, while raising awareness for causes internationally. It resonated with us to not only diversify the local landscape of creative entrepreneurs but also give back to our roots. We are passionate about our philanthropic efforts to make a difference in the lives of children and dedicate 10% of all purchases to organizations and nonprofits in Vietnam and Cambodia.

Has it been a smooth road?
Every day has new challenges but… Every. Day. We’re. Hustlin’! Undoubtedly there have been struggles along the way – most notably finding high-quality products that are distinctive and ethically sourced but also catering to the needs of our customer. We worked hard to create a brand that is true to our design tastes but also relatable.

It is definitely a process but getting over the learning curves is essential for growing any small business! Keeps us on our toes!

We are essentially putting a fresh spin on the gifting process! John & Jackie is a one-stop shop for uniquely creative and customized gifting. We source high-quality products from brands and artisans all around the world to curate elegantly cool gift boxes that are sophisticated, affordable, and appropriate for any occasion.

There are limitless possibilities for keeping things personal! We offer ready-made gift boxes that can be ordered and delivered right to recipient’s doorstop, but also collaborate with individuals and companies to fully customize a gift down to a specific theme or event. If the pre-curated gift boxes don’t fit the occasion need, our customer has the DIY option to choose individual products in our marketplace to fill their box, choose their ribbon color, and send a complimentary card.

Our intention is to not only make the gifting process seamless and memorable, but to encourage a culture of giving back. We are proud to run a business that sources and offers truly unique products and celebrates people and their special moments.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
It’s a proud moment every time we hear a story about someone loving their gift! At the end of the day, we’re facilitating smiles and those warm fuzzy feelings. We’re women entrepreneurs navigating our way through a business based on connecting people and inspiring relationships. It’s a beautiful thing!
